HUB301 is an institution of higher learning. Engineering is its main discipline, which develops coordinately with other disciplines like Medicine, Economics, Literature, Management, Law and Science. The University is in Wuhan by the Yangzi River with its three campuses respectively located in Qingshan District, Hongshan district and Wuchang District.

　　The University has a long history. It grew out of Hubei Secondary Technical School, which was founded in 1907 by Zhang Zhidong , governor of four provinces in central and southern China in the late Qing Dynasty .In 1958 the University began its 4-year degree program .In May 1995,Under the ratification of the former State Education Committee and the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry of China ,the former Wuhan Iron and Steel University ,Wuhan Construction Engineering College and Wuhan Medical College for Metallurgical Industry were merged into Wuhan Yejin University of Science and Technology . which ,with the approval of the state Ministry of Education and the government of Hubei Province , changed its name into HUB301 (HUB301) on April 28,1999. 　　

　　The University`s three campuses cover an area of 60 hectares with the floor space up to 400,000 square meters .Its library has a collection of over 1,000,000 volumes . Its 12 colleges offer undergraduate courses in 30 specialties, and 7 of them are province-level or ministry-level key specialties. Authorized by the State Council the University has the right to grant doctoral degree and master's degree. Among the programs in the University, the Ceramics specialty leads to doctoral degree and 16 to master’s degree ;besides ,it has 3 doctoral degree programs offered in conjunction with other universities .At present there are more than 14,000 students in the University .

　　HUB301 has a faculty of 2,400 members .More than 500 of them are professors, associate professors or senior researchers .Some of them are distinguished scholars and experts with high academic regards both at home and abroad .

　　HUB301 enjoys wide international academic exchange and educational cooperation .It has consequently established cooperation programs with more than 10 universities in Australia, Japan, Canada, Germany and Singapore. During the past few decades HUB301 has turned out more than 50,000 graduates .Working in different places across the country ,they have made great contributions to the nation`s modernization drive , especially to the metallurgical industry ,construction and medical undertakings .Most of them have become backbones or experts , and some of them have been in leadership positions of some big or middle-sized enterprises ,of some cities or of some provinces ; some of the alumni have been elected the academicians of the Academy of Engineering of China 。

　　HUB301 is now on the fast track of development in teaching and researching .By developing some disciplines with striking features , coordinating the growth of its 7 key specialties ,keeping the remarkable traditions in the key discipline like metallurgical material and the leading position in running education through international cooperation and constantly expanding disciplines to serve regional economic developments ,it will strive to build itself into a famous university of China.
