PYP/ESL teachers: (2-4 required in September 2013)
We have two schools that are looking at implementing the IBO PYP curriculum. Take a look at www.ibo.org/pyp/
At these schools we sometimes use experienced ESL teachers who are willing to put in the effort and learn about teaching in the PYP. It is extremely difficult to learn and involves intensive reading, learning and putting conceptual ideas into practice but has advantages for them in the future and the possibility of working in higher paid international schools. You should know that about 30-40% of teachers cannot hack it. However, it is a great opportunity for very dedicated and mature ESL teachers to improve their practice. We also tend to put these teachers to work with younger children, i.e. 2-3 years of age.
Requirements
n At least 5 years teaching children under 7
n Experience in a kindergarten setting, not only in training schools
n Extremely willing to learn about teaching
n Will consider the possibility of taking further education, i.e. taking a PGCE, teachers qualification, Masters in education etc.
Salaries
Grade 1: 12,000 – 14,000 RMB per month, depending on relevant kindergarten experience
We only employ new teachers at grade 1
We have different grades of these, so if teacher prove themselves capable their teacher grade can rise
Grade 2: 14,500 – 16,000 RMB per month
Grade 3: 16,500 – 18,000 RMB per month
This is a full time 35 hours per week job! It has about 28 contact hours per week and lots of work to do at home, like teachers back home |
