Brief Introcduction to the HLJ898
As the earliest, the largest and the most comprehensive normal university in the eastern region of HeLongJiang Province, HLJ898 is the education center for training teachers of middle-education levels. The mission of the university is to train the best educators, and to provide an interactive academic environment for educators and scholars. The university was founded in August, 1958, and relocated to the beautiful city of Mudanjiang on Sep, 1995,it passed the qualified teaching evaluation conducted by the Educational Ministry in 2001. By September, 2005, the university was enhanced to include several master degree programs.
The college covers total area of 750,000 square meters. There are 5 graduate schools, such as the higher education, genetic engineering, and Bohai Culture, etc. The library holds more than 810,000 volume of books, over 11,772,600 Chinese and Foreign electronic academic periodicals; Total value of teaching equipments reaches more than 68,000,000 Chinese Yuan. There are 894 faculties and staff, among them 470 are full-time professors, including 174 associate and full professors, and 125 assistant professors. The University also sponsors the journal Mudanjiang College of Education Press, which is published both in Chinese and foreign languages. The University has 13 departments, including Chinese, political science, foreign language, computer science, biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, education, management, athletics, art, and history. There are 17 education oriented programs, including Chinese language literature, political science, history, English, Russian, musicology, art, biology, mathematics, and applied mathematics, computer science, chemistry, physics, athletics education, educational technology, elementary school education, psychology, and education. There are 18 other programs that are not designed for training teachers. They include: Chinese language literature, mathematics and applied mathematics, computer science, applied chemistry, biology, electronic engineer, the art design, dance, musicology, applied athletics, marketing, information science, landscape engineer, law, tourism management, Japanese, English, and Russian. The university currently has 12969 full-time students, 5283 continuous education students and 1500 specially trained students. The university has graduated 30,000 students since it was founded. The graduate student quality feedback surveys reported above 90% satisfaction rate from their employers. The undergraduate students are also in high demands.
The university has made great progress academically since its foundation, especially in the field of crystal physics, animal biology, literature and art, political science, and athletics, that all have their graduate programs now. Other programs, such as, chemistry, modern literature, animal biology, organic chemistry, art theory, gymnastics, mathematical analysis, political science, and law have also well established their reputations both within and beyond the province. The university research has been improved remarkably and is also gaining recognition in the whole country.
The university has made extensive international connections with Blagoveshensk Normal University in Russia, University of New England of Australia, University of Westminster and Brunel University from UK, Fuji University of Japan, Cheongju University of Korea,Taylor College of Malaysia,Genetic Computer School from Singapore. Since 1996, we are also accepting international students from Russia, Georgia, Korea, and Japan. The university actively encourages international academic exchange. The university will continue strengthening its international programs, and will make the campus the best Chinese learning center in Northeastern China for students from all over the world.
Sample Contract
HLJ898 ( Party A ) is going to engage , an American, as an English teacher in the Foreign Language Department. The following contract has been reached after agreement from both parties.
I. Guarantees Offered by Party A:
1. Provide accommodation inside the campus (a suite occupied by himself),with living facilities such as bathroom, kitchen with utensils , TV, telephone(paid by oneself) , printer and computer . The computer to be upgraded with the latest components to facilitate speed on the broadband Internet, which is also provided.
2. Offer a tax-free salary of RMB 5000 Yuan per-month for working 30 hours a week, winter vacation with pay. This salary is to begin on February 21, 2005.
3. Provide a return air ticket back to at the end of the contract or a ticket of less value to another destination.
4. The same medical care and insurance provided as the Chinese staff.
5. Necessary teaching materials provided.
6. Provide the same rate of pay for any overtime that is agreed upon by the two parties. That is overload teaching with RMB 50 Yuan per hour
7. Provide expenses for visa and residency permit within China.
8. Provide a travel bonus of RMB 2000 Yuan for a year.
9. Provide no more than approximately 35 students per class.
II. Guarantees Offered by Party B:
1. Bear a 30--hour teaching load per week focused on oral English, including giving examinations, marking test papers, and setting a test paper at the end of a term. Be obliged to attend the student’s activities like the English Corner on the campus.
2. Obey all the college and Department rules; be ready to be responsible as the Chinese staff if violation occurs.
3. Take good care of the property in the suite. Pay for the property if damaged on purpose.
4. During the contract period, Party B pays all the fees of any family member occurred within China.
5. Obey the laws, regulations and rules of foreign affairs within China.
6. Find no part-time work without the permission of Party A. Be ready to bear responsibility if violation occurs.
III. Guarantees Offered by Both Parties:
1. Obey all the items in the contract; do not violate them freely.
2. Should there be any disagreement, both sides must try to solve the problem on a friendly and cooperative basis. Legal procedures should not be taken unless something that cannot be settled otherwise occurs.
3. The contract is to put into effect from February 21, 2005 to January 21, 2006 and runs for a period of one year.
4. During the contract period neither party can suspend the contract freely. If either party suspends the contract they must pay the other party a 10,000-Yuan penalty.
5. When the contract ends after one year it loses its efficacy. If both sides want to cooperate further, the contract could be renewed.
