This School has been an IB World School since October 1995. It offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma Programme. The programmes, from Grade 6 to Grade 12, are catering to the needs of the citizens of Sichuan, diplomatic and consular corps, multi-national companies and the expatriate community living in Chengdu.
This School, located in Dujiangyan City, which boasts one of the Worlds Cultural Heritage sites--- Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, was founded in September 1992. It’s the first private boarding school opened in Mainland China since 1949.
The school provides education that is suited to the needs of the individual. Teachers, students work together to make a significant contribution towards the ultimate goal of producing happy, enlightened and globally-minded citizens.
2 ProgramsĿ
This School has obtained authorization from IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization), Geneva to offer the Diploma Programme (DP: Grades 11 and 12) and the Middle Years Programme, (MYP: Grade 6 - 10).
2.1The Middle Years Programme provides an international program of study designed to meet the educational requirements of students aged 11-16 years. It embraces yet transcends traditional school subjects and serves as excellent preparation for the rigors of the Diploma Programme.
2.2The IB Diploma Programme is a challenging two-year curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19. It leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities.
What does the Diploma Course consist of?
The Curriculum is structured into six groups. They are
· Language A1 – First Language( Mandarin Chinese)
· Second Language (English)
· Individuals and Societies –(Geography, Business & Management)
· Experimental Sciences – Physics, Chemistry and Biology
· Mathematics and Computer Sciences
· One of the following options: Visual Arts, s second Individuals and Societies subject or a second Experimental Science course.
2.3 Extra-curricular and after school activities.
Extracurricular activities: Judo, piano lessons, drum course, tennis and dance etc.
2.4 Exchange Students Program
Exchange students program: we have established exchange students programs with Dr. Phillips High School, Orlando, FL and High School, Hamburg, Germany.
2.5 Short-term Chinese Training
Chinese training: our Chinese training courses are designed for both junior high and high school students during holidays. Each unit takes two weeks, during which students are going to learn 100 sentences of common use. And each week they are going to take 20 academic hours of Chinese lessons, and 10 hours of Chinese martial arts and physical education. In addition, for their recreational purposes, activities such as parties, Chinese movie watching and opera appreciation will be arranged for each week. Students are going to learn Chinese songs, calligraphy, and Chinese painting. By the end of the program, they are supposed to sing three Chinese songs, draw three Chinese paintings featuring fish, shrimps and Giant panda. The students will also visit the following sights: the Grand Buddha in Leshan, Jinsha &Sanxingdui site, old Chengdu including Wensu temple,and Wuhou temple, Dujiangyan irrigation system, and the panda breeding center. (the four-week program will include a 4- day visit to Jiuzhai village. )
The fees: 30 USD per day (pocket money and expenses for laundering, beverage and fresh fruits are not included)
Lodging: one- star hotel, two students per room. The “to and fro” commuting from hotel to campus will be taken cared of by school bus.
Medical services: students are supposed to buy travel insurances by themselves. Medical services at the school infirmary are free of charge.

One typical class is composed of 16 students, one Chinese teacher, and one native English-speaking teacher.
Our IB high school also provides Chinese training courses perfectly designed for foreign students taking IB courses in China. Mandarin is taught as Language B in our curriculum and calligraphy learning is stressed in the arts category.

Summer camp for talented youth: This year Johns Hopkins University will hold this summer program for 8-12 graders. There is no limit on the number of applicants, yet selectivity is high with an admission rate of 10 percent in the United States. This year, hopefully, 15 students of This School will be admitted, and continue their study in Ivy League later in life. The cost is 3000 USD per person with board and lodging expenses included. Two 2 inch x 2 inch color photos are required.We hope some day This School can have its own center for talented youth, so that students from other countries can apply for the same program and once admitted, come here for the summer camp.

Curriculum
Mathematics, physics, chemistry, English and biology are delivered by foreign experts in the daytime, while Chinese teachers teach Chinese related courses at night. (Short lessons: 25-30 minutes for each session)
Textbooks used in our MYP programme are bilingual ones.
Aside from delivering MYP program, This School also has ordinary middle school as another choice.

This School covers an area of some 100 Mu. It has two soccer fields, two swimming pools plus several tennis courts and basketball courts. Aside from these facilities, it also has piano rooms, judo rooms, and music rooms for extracurricular use. Our school also has a computer educational center with 30 computers, all of which have access to the internet. IB high school students should bring their own laptops to school.

At present, This School has 24 foreign experts, composing 20 percent of the faculty and staff, including some IBO-designated examiners .All IB courses are delivered by foreign experts from the United States, the UK, Canada and Australia. With at least five years of IB teaching experiences. 80 percent of the foreign experts have master’s degree, 2 percent have doctorate, while 18 percent of them have two bachelor’s degrees. This School has also recruited a large number of famous Chinese teachers nationwide, among which 10 percent are teachers of a special classification, 30 percent are teachers of high level, while middle level teachers occupy the remaining 60 percent.
Teachers old and young in age, together with a perfectly balanced composition of teachers at all levels of education including science and technology form a teaching staff that are highly experienced yet innovative.
