This Railway Institute was founded in 1950 (originally named Railway Guard Engineering Institute, one of the key institutes in the nation as well as the whole army). In 1984, it was merged into Railway Ministry and renamed as the present one, and replaced to Hebei province in 2000, still among the leading universities in Hebei province.
