A Brief Introcduction to the This Middle School

Located in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, China, This Middle School was originally founded by a Frenchman 100 years ago and was given the present name in 1950. It is the only key middle school under the charge of Zhanjiang City. Moreover, it has been designated by Guangdong government as a First Class School, Experimental School of Modern Educational Technology, Educational Information Demonstration Unit and a School Offering Traditional Sports focusing on Track and Field. Guangdong government has also approved that This Middle School has the qualification of engaging foreign teachers. Now it has been developed to be a school of high teaching quality and excellent management, which owns the first-class facilities and experienced teachers. At present there are 3784 students and 256 well-qualified full-time teaching and administrative staff.

The school has a modern comprehensive administrative system for teaching with audiovisual aids, campus computer networks, an information center, computer labs for preparing lessons, computerized reading rooms for students, a broadcasting studio room and 61 multimedia-teaching classrooms.
The school takes an active part providing quality education and maintains a good reputation in Guangdong province due to its remarkable achievements. For example, the college admission rate of the graduating classes reached 100% in the year 2003. One of the students, Zhou Tian, attained the highest sum score of Guangdong Province in the 2002 National College Entrance Examination. Another student, Wu Mingwu, attained the highest mathematics score of Guangdong Province in the 2003 National College Entrance Examination. Each year about 40% of the graduates enroll in key universities, such as Qinghua University, Beijing University, Zhongshan University and so on. The school has trained a lot of the elites for the country since 1950. In the field of sports, Zhang Xiaodong, a windsurfing world champion, and Yao Qiming, a badminton doubles world champion graduated from this school.

This Middle School has come to a new period of educational modernization. The scale of the school is being expanded. At present, a new modernized campus, which covers an area of more than 300 mu (about 50 acres), is being built in the center of Economic Developing Zone of Zhanjiang and will be completed in July, 2005, when the senior grades will move there. The school is trying its best to become a modern school with both national and international reputation for its first-class education, so qualified teachers from abroad are wanted.

The Chinese middle school education system consists of three years of junior middle school and three years of senior middle school. The ages of the students are from 13 to 19 years old. Children start their English course at the age of 9, third grade in primary school.
Zhanjiang is a beautiful seaport city lying in southernmost end of China. It occupies an area of more than 12470 square kilometers and has a population of about 7 million. Well known for its seafood and pearl products, Zhanjaing faces the sea and near Hainan Island that is called “the Oriental Hawaii”. Convenient transportation is available. There is an airport, a railway station, a harbor and express highways leading to Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province and Hongkong. The city environment is beautiful and pleasant all the year round with an average temperature of 22.8℃.

6. Past teaching experience is preferred.
7.workload:16-20 lessons per week as well as a weekly English corner.
C:We shall provide each recruited foreign teacher with:
1. monthly salary: (RMB) 4500 yuan
2. an international round-trip air ticket for one-year contract
3. free boarding. A well- furnished apartment with a bedroom,a sitting room,a kitchen and a washroom.(not sharing with other teachers), equipped with air-conditioner,washing machine, telephone,computer, TV set,cooking facilities, refrigerator and other life necessities.
