This University, founded in 1902, as one of the oldest higher educational institutions in China and the pioneer in Hebei educational sector of higher learning, now is one of the key universities of the province.
Its two campuses in Baoding cover an area of 1.6188 million m2 in total where the building area amounts to 0.95 million m2, in addition to 3.3 million m2 of affiliated farmland, over 27 million m2 of affiliated woodland.
The teaching faculty totals more than 2,613 including 223 full professors, 275 associate professors.
Total enrolment in 2005 exceeds 24,271, including 1,060 for doctorial or master degree and 367 in-service candidates for academic degrees of various levels, in addition to over 3,000 participants in adult education.

Research institutes 16, including the Hebei Research Institute of Mountain Areas and the Chinese Jujube Research Center, etc.
The research work has reaped a bumper harvest. Of the 449 projects which passed the evaluations since the period of 8th five-year plan, 224 have reached international level; 268 have won awards of ministerial and provincial level or above.
So far various kinds of collaborative research projects and personnel exchange programs have been established in relation to 14 countries. The university is a participant in 1-2-1 Sino-American Personnel Training Program and the enrollment is open to students abroad for PhD study.
Ⅰ. Party A wishes to engage the service of Party B --------- as an English teacher. The two parties, in a spirit of friendly cooperation, agree to sign this contract and pledge to fulfill conscientiously all the obligations stipulated in it.
Ⅱ. The period of service will be from the ----- day of April , 2008 to the day of February , 2009.
Ⅲ. The duties of Party B (see attached pages)
Ⅳ. Party B’ s monthly salary will be ￥------ Yuan RMB.
Ⅴ. Party A’s’s Obligations
1. Party A shall introduce to Party B the laws, Decrees and relevant regulations enacted by the Chinese government, the Party A’s work system and regulations concerning administration of foreign experts.
2. Party A shall conduct direction, supervision and evaluation of Party B’S work.
3. Party A shall provide Party B necessary working and living conditions.
4. Party A shall provide co-workers.
5. Party A shall pay Party B’s salary regularly by the month.
Ⅵ. Party B’s Obligations
1. Party B shall observe the laws, decrees and relevant regulations enacted by the Chinese government and shall not interfere in China’s internal affairs.
2. Party B shall observe Party A’s work system and regulations concerning administration of foreign experts and shall accept Party A’S arrangement, direction, supervision and evaluation in regard to his/her work. Without Party A’S consent, Party B shall not render service elsewhere or hold concurrently any post unrelated to the work agreed on with Party A.
3. Party B shall complete the tasks agreed on schedule and guarantee the quality of work.
4. Party B shall respect the China’s religious policy, and shall not conduct religious activities incompatible with the status of an expert.
5. Party B shall respect the Chinese people’s moral standards and customs.
Ⅶ. Revision, Cancellation and Termination of the Contract
1. Both Parties should abide by the contract and should refrain from revising, canceling, or terminating the contract without mutual consent.
2. The contract can be revises, canceled, or terminated with mutual consent. Before both parties have reached an agreement, the contract should be strictly observed.
3. Party A has the right to cancel the contract with a written notice to Party B under the following conditions:
(1) Party B does not fulfill the contract or does not fulfill the contract obligations according to the terms stipulated, and has failed to amend after Party A has pointed it out.
(2) According to the doctor’s diagnosis, Party B cannot resume normal work after a continued 30 day sick leave.
4. Party B has the right to cancel the contract with a written notice to Party A under the following conditions:
(1) Party A has not provided Party B with necessary working and living conditions as stipulated in the contract.
(2) Party A has not paid Party B as scheduled.
Ⅷ. Breach Penalty
When either or the two Parties fails to fulfill the contract or fails to fulfill the contract obligations according to the terms stipulated, that is, breaks the contract, it must pay a breach penalty of US $ 500 to 2,000 (or the equivalent in RMB).
If Party B asks to cancel the contract due to events beyond control, it should produce certifications by the department concerned, obtain Party A’s consent, and pay its own return expenses; if Party B cancels the contract without valid reason, it should pay its own return expenses and pay a breach penalty to Party A.
If Party A asks to cancel the contract due to events beyond control, with the consent of Party B, it should pay Party B’s return expenses; if Party A cancels the contract without valid reason it should pay Party B’s return expenses and pay a breach penalty to Party B.
Ⅸ. The appendix of this contract is and inseparable part of the contract and has equal effect.
Ⅹ. This contract takes effect on the date signed by both parties and will automatically expire when the contract ends. If either of the two parties asks for a new contract, it should forward its request to another party 90 days prior to the expiration of the contract, and sign the new contract with mutual consent.
Party B shall bear all expenses incurred when staying on after the contract expires.
Ⅺ. Arbitration
The two parties shall consult with each other and mediate any disputes, which may arise about the contract. If all attempts fail, the two Parties can appeal to the organization of arbitration for foreign experts’ affairs in the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and ask for a final arbitration.

Annex
1. The foreign teacher will be responsible for the English teaching of the non-English-major postgraduates or English-major undergraduates, which is arranged by Party A (AUH).
2. The working hours are from 12 or 16 hours per week. The workload over 64 hours per month will be paid by hour.
3. According to the relevant regulations from the Public Security Department of P. R. China, the foreign teacher is not allowed to look for work him or herself, which is against the laws otherwise.
4. The foreign teacher, who has signed the 10-month to one-year contract with AUH, is continuously paid the monthly salary during the summer vocation, May Holiday, October Holiday, and a two-day rest for Christmas Day.
5. At the end of each semester, having finished his or her assignment, the foreign teacher will be provided 1,100 yuan RMB as the Traveling Allowance.
6. A return air-ticket is provided to the foreign teacher him or herself upon the completion of the year’s teaching. (Generally speaking, the foreign teacher will buy the one-way air-ticket of economic class from his or her country to China first, we will reimburse it when she or he is here at AUH. AUH will buy him or her the air-ticket back home when the one-year teaching is completed). AUH will provide the free transportation for the foreign teacher’s picking up and sending off at the airport.
7. The telephone set in the apartment is installed by the Department of International Cooperation, but the fee for the call is paid by the foreign teacher him or herself.
8. The medicine and the treatment taken in the campus hospital will be reimbursed by the Department of International Cooperation, AUH. The fee is limited within the total amount of 1,000 yuan RMB in one year. The medicine and the treatment taken in outside hospitals are not covered by the Department of International Cooperation, AUH.
9. The Department of International Cooperation, AUH will pay the fee of the stipulated Physical Examination for foreign teachers in the temporary residence application.
10. The equipments and facilities in the apartment are prepared by the Department of International Cooperation, AUH. The foreign teacher will be arranged to live in the apartment with a study, toilet, kitchen with cooking utensils, free water and power, free warm water shower, free washing machine, free computer and internet and offering of telephone, color TV, air-conditioner, refrigerator, microwave, etc.
