This University -- The Cradle of Superior Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors
Established in 1958, This University is one of the earliest universities of This university in China. The International University , authorized by the State Education Committee of the People’s Republic of China, was established in 1992 in This University , and has become the national center for foreign students in This university.
The university has an excellent learning environment with “state of the art” facilities, a distinguished teaching faculty and staff of more than 3000 (including the two affiliated hospitals). It is highly regarded and respected around the world. This University is divided into four areas of study: Medical, Science, Arts and Management. The university offers 18 PhD programs, 27 masters programs, 16 undergraduate programs and one post-doctoral fellowship. The Acupuncture Program is a state-level key program. At present time, there are over 7000 students enrolled in various programs in the university. Since its foundation, This University has trained more than 3600 foreign students from 60 countries/areas, granting M.D., PhD, masters and bachelor degrees, as well as certificates for short term study programs.
Both two affiliated teaching hospitals are ranked “First Class” and together have 2100 beds. There are 5 State Special Diseases Centers and 4 Provincial ones. The First Teaching Hospital has been approved by the state as a National Clinical Research Center, the largest Acupuncture & Moxibustion center and Provincial Demonstration Hospital of This university in China. The Second Teaching Hospital specializes in the Integration of This university and Western Medicine, with treatment and research on Gynecology and Encephalopathy, and has a Research Center of This university Rare Diseases. The two teaching hospitals are well equipped with modern facilities and doctors possess great skill in techniques. Both hospitals have excellent reputations and are trusted by the more than 6,000 out-patients whom they serve daily. They are important bases for clinical practice and have strong clinical teaching capacity. As the clinical teaching sections of the university, the two teaching hospitals have 16 clinical teaching and research offices.
The Education Center of This University is equipped with modern facilities for teaching, accommodation, dining and entertainment. The living accommodations are superior and offer a choice of single or double rooms or private suites. It provides a gracious environment, well equipped with computer, audio-visual, and language labs.
Sample Contract
I. Party A (the Engaging Party) engages Mr. _________ (the Engaged Party) from the United States as a foreign teacher. The two Parties have agreed upon the below terms:
II. The duration of the employment is from ——, 2007 to ——, 2008.
III. The Duty of the Engaged Party is to conduct fourteen hours of English language teaching per week in the university.
IV. The Duties of Engaging Party are:
1. To introduce the concerning Chinese laws and regulations, rules and regulations of working and administration in the university to the engaged party.
2. To instruct, inspect and evaluate the work of the engaged party.
3. To provide working and living necessities to the engaged party.
4. To pay the salary on schedule.
V. The Duties of Engaged Party are:
1. To obey the Chinese laws and regulations, not to interfere the Chinese domestic affairs.
2. To follow the working rules and regulations and those concerning foreign teacher, to accept the working arrangement, instructions, inspections and evaluations. The engaged party should not take other part time jobs that are not relating to the engaging party without permission.
3. To complete the working task on schedule and ensure the quality. The Engaged party is supposed to submit a work report of at least 800 words at the end of each semester.
4. To respect the moral criterion and customs of Chinese people.
5. The apartment for foreign teacher should not accommodate people other than the relatives of the engaged party.
VI. The Alteration, Termination and Expiration
1. Both the two parties should abide by the contract, and neither of them should alter or terminate the contract without the unanimous agreement.
2. After the negotiation of both parties, if agreed, the contract can be revised altered, or terminated. Before unanimous agreement, both parties should abide by the contract strictly.
3. In the following conditions, the engaging party has the right to inform the engaged party to terminate the contract in the form of written notice.
(1). The engaged party does not carry out the contract or fulfill the requirement listed in the contract. Being indicated, the engaged party still would not correct them.
(2). According to the diagnosis of the doctor, the engaged party still can not resume his/her work after in excess of fifteen days sick leave.
4. In the following conditions, the engaged party has the right to inform the engaging party to terminate the contract in the form of written notice.
(1). The engaging party does not offer necessary working and living conditions according to the contract.
(2). The engaging party does not pay the salary on schedule.
VII. Living Treatments:
1. The engaging party pays the engaged party the monthly salary of 4000 RMB on the 8th of each month (if encounters a holiday, it is given on the second working day after holiday), seventy percent of which can be changed into foreign exchange. The salary is paid in months from the arranged date of taking office until the expired date according to the contract. If less than one month, it is given in days. The daily wage is one-thirtieth of the monthly salary.
2. The engaging party provides vehicles or equivalent expense for the engaged party between Tianjin/Beijing airport or train station and the university when arrives and leaves China.
3. The engaging party provides an apartment with kitchen, washing room, furniture, bedding, television, refrigerator and air conditioning (gas, water, electricity ADSL and telephone bills will be covered by the engaged party, cable TV and heat expense are covered by the engaging party).4. The engaging party is responsible for up to one thousand RMB of medical care cost during the one semester employment in the designated hospitals and the remainder of the medical care cost, is responsible by the engaged party. Registration fee, cosmetic surgery, massage, spectacles, board in hospital and etc., which are stipulated to be at one's own expenses in China, are responsible by the engaged party. Expenses happened in the districts of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and those happened abroad are responsible by the engaged party.
5. Holidays are given according to the university calendar. A certificate from a doctor should be submitted to have a sick leave. The salary is as usual when the sick leave is less than fifteen days in one semester. If sick leave exceeds fifteen days, the engaging party has the right to rescind the contract unilaterally, but is responsible for fifty percent expense of leaving China. A private affair leave should be approved by the engaging party and the salary is deducted in days. A private affair leave should not exceed five days and a continuous leave should not exceed three days in one semester. The engaging party has the right to rescind the contract when the engaged party is absent without asking for a leave.
6. Flight Ticket: The flight ticket is paid by the engaged party when the engaged party works less than one semester; the engaging party reimburses a round ticket (The name on the ticket should be the engaged party. The reimbursement shall not exceed 8,000RMB. The excessive part should be paid by the engaged party.) when the engaged party completes one academic year teaching in the contract term. The reimbursement should be finished no later than one month after the expiration of the contract, otherwise it would be regarded as a disclamation.
VIII. Either party, who wish to sign a new contract, should propose sixty days in advance of the current contract. After negotiation and approvals of both parties, the contract can be extended.
IX. All expenses in China are responsible by the engaged party when the contract expires.
X. Arbitration: When a dispute emerges, both parties should have a negotiation to solve the problem. If no agreements can be made, either party can apply for arbitration from International Exchanges Office of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission.
