AGREEMENT
BETWEEN This UNIVERSITY AND THE FOREIGN TEACHER
This University has engaged ____________________________ from ______________________ as a teacher of English from ___________________ to _________________. The two parties in the spirit of friendship and cooperation have reached an agreement as follows:
Article l
The foreign teacher shall abide by the laws and decrees of the Chinese Government，follow the rules，regulations and working system of This University and accomplish his／her teaching mission according to the arrangements of the Foreign Languages Department of This University including the department work．
Article 2
This University shall pay a monthly salary(10 months/year) of 3,500 RMB yuan to the experienced teacher who holds a bachelor’s degree，and 4,500 to the one who holds a MA degree，and 7,000 to a PhD holder, to cover food and other miscellaneous expenses, and 1,000 RMB yuan for each holiday as travel allowance(2 months/year).
Article 3
This University will provide a return ticket to and from the home city for the teacher for a one-year service, and a one-trip ticket for a six month’s service.
Article 4
This University shall provide suitable rent-free housing with hard and soft furnishings．This University will also provide a telephone for the This University foreign teacher who is responsible for the telephone and internet bills．
Article 5
This University shall provide free of charge all the official documents necessary for the foreign teacher to live and work in China．These documents shall include residence card for the foreign teacher.
Article 6
The foreign teacher is required to have Medicare insurance of his/her own. This University shall also pay the foreign teacher monthly medical subsidy 100 RMB yuan during his/her service, and This University shall not pay for other expense occurred on medical issue.
Article 7
The foreign teacher shall undertake the following tasks：
A. a maximum 16 classroom hours a week，excluding lectures of which the time and contents are decided through consultation;
B. participation in the academic activities of the Foreign Languages Department;
C. advising students on extra-curricular activities，such as the English Corner and students’ societies;
D. assisting colleagues in their research and self-improving studies.
Article 8
The foreign teacher shall have holidays as prescribed by the Chinese Government and school holidays fixed by This University.
Article 9
The foreign teacher shall give lessons at the time and the place arranged by the Foreign Languages Department and This University. No alteration can be made unless it is approved by the Foreign Languages Department or This University. It is illegal that the foreign teacher should work for other employers without the permission from This University.
Article l0
The foreign teacher shall exercise care in the use of all facilities in the rent-free housing. This University is responsible for general maintenance on the assumption that reasonable care is taken, or the foreign teacher shall be responsible for the replacement with This University’s approval.
Article 11
A monthly notice must be given by either party for early termination of this agreement which remains effective until mutual agreement is achieved. Any alterations or breaking of the agreement without mutual agreement shall be considered unlawful.
Article 12
The foreign teacher shall report to This University about his/her visitors, including the arrival and departure time. Any visitor invited by the foreign teacher to stay in This University for more than 2 days shall pay for the accommodations at the rate of 30 RMB yuan a day.
Article l 3
This University shall maintain the right to cancel the existing agreement should the foreign teacher violate Article 1. The consequence of this violation would result in the foreign teacher’s return to his/her home country at his/her own expense and at the time arranged by This University.
Article 14
The foreign teacher has the right to ask for a meeting of leaders of the Foreign Affairs Office and This University to discuss any matters or issues of concern that arise during the employment．
Article l 5
The present agreement takes effect from _____________ and expires on______________. All terms of the agreement remain valid throughout the period of engagement．Should either party wish to extend the engagement, application is required no less than 50 days before expiration of this contract. Upon agreement between both parties this agreement can be extended.
Article 16
The present agreement is written in Chinese and English，both versions being equally valid．
