About This Teachers Education University
This Teachers Education University was founded in October 1953. Originally, it was called Guangxi Secondary Teacher Training College. Then in December 1978, ratified by the State Council, and based on the Teacher Training Department of Guangxi Education College, it was renamed Guangxi Teachers Education College, becoming a full-time undergraduate teacher training college (on December 1st, 1978, according to the Ministry of Education, it was changed to Nanning Teachers College). And in 1985 it was officially fixed to be Guangxi Teachers College. On January 1st, 2003, approved by the Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi Nationality Teacher School was merged into this college and rebuilt into this new This Teachers Education University. In 1998,it was awarded an authorized unit for master degree by the committee of education level State Council. In 2004, it was awarded the master degree qualification work for the same education level. The present university consists of three campuses; one is on Mingxiu, one is on Changgang and other one is on Mingyang. It is about 538908.63 square meters in the area. There are arts building, science building, P.E building, art building, new library and integrate training building, and so on. There are over 1,720,700 books in the library(including electronic books).
School is base on the teachers education, and moderate development in the non-teachers education. It is main in undergraduate education, active to expand postgraduate education, adult education and froeign students education. The in-service faculty has 1,200 professional, including 290teachers with senior professional posts, 350teachers with doctorate and master degrees. Students enrollment has climbed to 12,000, which includes students different at different levels of learning. And the undergraduate students 11.341.
There are 14 department (faculty), three colleges, one secondary education department, three general teaching institutes, one training department for primary teachers and 36 research institutes. It is the training base for headmasters and teachers in primary and middle schools, and the experimental base for remote education in Guangxi. The university offers 41majors and 31MA disciplines. All these involve arts, science, education, history, law, economics, Principles of Management, engineering, and so on eight subjects. Our university has been making positive efforts since 1980s to develop international exchange and cooperation in education, science and technology and culture. Up until now the university has established inter-university relationship with dozens of colleges and universities in countries such as America, Australia, English, France, Germany, Poland, Vietnam, Thailand and New Zealand. In addition to appointing good teacher to give lectures and to study abroad, or to attend international conference each year, the university has also engaged English teachers from America, England, Canada and Australia and invites foreign experts and scholars to our university for lectures and communication.
