Introduction to LANZHOU EF English First
¡¡¡¡EF Education, the world's largest private educational organization, has over 37 years of experience in the language training industry. EF Education has its headquarters in Sweden, and a teaching research organization in Boston University in the USA.

¡¡¡¡Located in Lanzhou, a stopover on the Ancient Silk Road and a city with The Yellow River winding its way along, EF Education, Lanzhou Franchised School , is a rapidly growing language school, boasting a variety of modern teaching facilities, such as multimedia labs, Internet access, an English library and 16 classrooms. ¡¡¡¡Accommodation for Native-Speaker teachers and ACs


¡¡¡¡Location:
¡¡¡¡Teacher's apartments should be no more than 30 minutes journey away from the school by public transport.
¡¡¡¡There should be supermarket and or market within 10 minutes walk of the apartment.
¡¡¡¡The building should be secure and approved by the local police for habitation by foreigners.

¡¡¡¡Rooms:
¡¡¡¡There must be two bedrooms of more or less the same size (apartment for ACs need only have one bedroom), bathroom, kitchen, eating area and living area.

¡¡¡¡Furniture:
¡¡¡¡- Bedrooms: Double beds with western style mattresses,
¡¡¡¡a bedside table,
¡¡¡¡a table or dressing-table with chair,
¡¡¡¡air conditioning,
¡¡¡¡wardrobe.
¡¡¡¡there should be drawers in the wardrobe or dressing-table,
¡¡¡¡curtains
¡¡¡¡- Kitchen: Gas hob for cooking
¡¡¡¡Sink
¡¡¡¡At least 2 cupboards
¡¡¡¡Refrigerator
¡¡¡¡Microwave oven
¡¡¡¡- Eating Area: Table + two chairs
¡¡¡¡Coffee table
¡¡¡¡TV
¡¡¡¡Air conditioning
¡¡¡¡Curtains
¡¡¡¡- Bathroom: Toilet
¡¡¡¡Basin
¡¡¡¡Shower with surround or in bath-tub with curtain
¡¡¡¡Washing machine

¡¡¡¡Other things:
¡¡¡¡- There must be a telephone in the apartment and it should be blocked for IDD calls. Teachers and ACs can use IP cards for long-distance calls.
¡¡¡¡- Always ensure that teachers have home and school address clearly written in Pinyin and in Chinese characters for use with taxi drivers and in case they ge lost or stopped by the police.

¡¡¡¡Above all else:
¡¡¡¡- Apartments should be thoroughly cleaned before the teachers or AC arrive. Particular attention should be paid to the bathroom and kitchen.
¡¡¡¡- Hot water, air-conditioning and other electrical and gas appliances should be tested before the apartment is taken. ¡¡¡¡Defective appliance should be mended or replaced before the arrival of the teachers or AC.
¡¡¡¡- Bus routes etc. From the apartment to the school should be reliably researched before the teachers '/ACs' arrival. ¡¡¡¡Where possible maps in Pinyin should be marked and prepared in advance
¡¡¡¡- It is the practice of some schools to have some basic food staples in the apartment for the arrival of the teachers/ACs. ¡¡¡¡For example: bottled water, orange juice, bread, instant noodles, tea, coffee, milk and sugar. It is standard practice to have bed linen ready if not on the bed: quilt + cover, pillow + cover, sheet on mattress.
¡¡¡¡- A 50RMB IP card allows teachers to make a quick call home to let their family know that they have arrived safe and sound.

¡¡¡¡For full time(one year) teaching positions

Teachers will be required to work five and a half days a week from Monday to Sunday, receiving one day and consecutive half day (until 16:00) off during the Non-Peak season.
One academic hour equals 40 real minutes. Teachers will be expected to teach from 36 to 44 academic hours per week, or from 156 to 188 academic hours per calendar month (between 104 and 126 real contact hours.) Occasional substitution may be required to cover unscheduled absences of other teachers. Teachers will also be responsible for administrative duties as directed by the Academic Coordinator, and for interviewing students for placement testing.

¡¡¡¡Time-tabling:
¡¡¡¡Teachers's working hours may be scheduled between the following times:
¡¡¡¡07.30 to 21.30 from Monday to Sunday
¡¡¡¡Teachers be required to work both morning and evening shifts in the same day; scheduled working hours not to exceed 40 real hours per week, between 24 to 29 of which are contact/teaching hours.

¡¡¡¡Financial Remuneration:
¡¡¡¡A salary of 5500RMB NET per calendar month will be paid to teachers for up to 104 real contact hours per calendar month.
¡¡¡¡Teachers scheduled between 104 and 126 real contact hours per calendar month (between 156 and 188 academic hours per calendar month) shall be paid a rate of RMB 100 per academic hour. Overtime (contact hours in excess of 126 real contact hours per calendar month) shall be paid at a rate of RMB100 per academic hour. Payment for 104 to 126 real contact hours per calendar month and overtime is gross and tax will be deducted. Such payment is calculated on a monthly basis.
In instance when public holidays or paid vacation falls in the monthly pay period, monthly hours will be calculated pro rata.
The salary is paid in local currency, in accordance with Chinese law.
¡¡¡¡Salary is paid on the 25th of each month, or the Friday before.
¡¡¡¡Payment for teachers for 104 to 126 real contact hours per calendar month and overtime is paid on 10th of each month.
¡¡¡¡Salary is revised once a year on the completion of twelve months of employment.
