- Teaching English as a Foreign Language in China

| There are 5-10 positions, Teaching English
as a Foreign Language in China, opening each year for native speakers
of English at the International College of Shandong University of
Technology (SDUT), Zibo city, Shandong, P. R. China. |

Preferences
No special requirements for candidates on nationality, major,
sex, but the following are preferred:
·1. Couples or single.
·2. Aged between 18 and 60.
·3. With Master, Doctor Degrees or teacher certificates.
·4. With English teaching experience.
·5. Without strong local accent.

Details of the position
·1. Types of the classes:
· Normal class: university students between 17 and 24 years old,
mainly daytime, on campus, about 35 students each class.
· Night school: adult students aged from 18 to 40 years old whose
basic English need improvement, on campus, about 30 students each
class.
· Middle school class: help our partner middle schools to improve
their students' English, aged between 13 and 18 years old, off campus,
about 40 students each class.
· Summer training class: train the middle school students in English,
daytime in July, on campus, about 40 students each class.
·2. Workdays: five and half workdays a week (sometimes teach at
weekday night, same as the domestic teachers.).
·3. Workload: 12-18 teaching hours per week.
·4. Teaching courses: language courses of English.
·5. Contract: one academic year contract covers September till the
following July.

Treatments
·1. Free lodging on campus (a fully furnished apartment with a bedroom,
a living room, a bathroom and a kitchen).
·2. Free electricity, water and air-conditioning.
·3. Monthly salary ranging from 2,200 to 3,300 yuan RMB of which
30% or 70% convertible to foreign currency depending on qualification.
·4. Paid winter vacation.
·5. Round way international air ticket or the equivalent money in
cash.
·6. The same health benefits as what we offer to the domestic teachers.
·7. 2,200 yuan RMB as holiday allowance for one academic year.

Applicants more than the vacancies at our college will be recommended

Bi-Lingual Exchange Program
The applicants can apply for the "Bi-Lingual Exchange Program"
if they want to study the courses open to the international students
in our institute as international students.
·1. Qualification: The candidate must be a English native speaker
and a graduate with bachelor's degree or higher.
·2. Teaching Task: Sign the contract of employment with the institute
and take a voluntary English-teaching task (without any payment)
for about 10 hours a week.
·3. Fees:
·Registration Fee, Tuition and Housing Fees are exempt.
·Medical Care: the same as that we offer to the foreign experts.
·Fees for board, textbooks, residence card and travel: Local standard.
·4. Application and Enrollment Time, Courses, Application and Enrollment
Procedures: the same as what we require the long-term international
students

About the location and the university
Shandong province is situated in the eastern part of China and on
the lower reaches of the Yellow River. Shandong borders the Yellow
Sea in the east and the Bohai Sea in the east and the Bohai Sea
in the north .It covers an area of 60,500 square miles and has population
of about 87 million. Shandong Province takes the first place and
the second place in the country for its gross value of agricultural
output and its value of agricultural output and its gross value
of industrial output respectively. The average temperature of the
province is 24°C~27°C for summer and -4°C~1°C for winter. Shandong
is one of the most important birthplace of the ancient Chinese culture
, a place with a long history and an ancient culture, with great
rivers and majestic mountains, with classic architecture as well
as simple folk customs. Mount Taishan, regarded as "the First
of the Five Sacred Mountains" in China , Qufu, the home town
of the great sage Confucius , are the outstanding of the multitudinous
natural scenes and human Heritages in Shandong Province.
Located in the central part of Shandong Province, Zibo, covering
an area of 2,300 square miles, has been designated by the State
Council as an open city in the Shandong Peninsula Economic Development
Zone with a population of 3.878 million. Zibo is an extremely important
communication hub, commodity collection and distribution center,
connecting with other parts of the country with railways and highways.
It lies only 70 kilometers from the international Airport in Jinan.
As the cradle of the ancient Qi civilization, numerous relics were
buried here. Zibo was the capital of the Qi state during the Spring
and Autumn warring states periods and has been the largest and most
prosperous city in China. And well-preserved traditional culture
rich in local color also makes Zibo a typical and ideal place to
investigate the doctrine of Confucius and Mencius, and the folk
customs of North China.
Founded in the middle of 20th century, Shandong University of Technology
(SDUT) is a key institution of higher education under the direct
jurisdiction of the Shandong Education Commission. SDUT is a comprehensive
university of science, arts, education, law, economics and trade,
concentrating mostly on engineering courses. As an important talent-nurturing
and academic research base of Shandong Province, SDUT occupies an
area of 450 acres (3000 mu) in the heart of Zibo City - a newly
developed industrial city with long history and it presently enrolls
more than 25,000 full-time students at the undergraduate and graduate
levels. SDUT consists 50 specialities which may offer diplomas,
bachelor's degrees and master's degrees besides some other fields
offering joint-training doctor's degrees. With the help of qualified
teachers, rich-collection library, well-equipped laboratories, apartments,
hospital, and school bank, SDUT could provide excellent living and

Contract
I. Party A ______________________________________wishes to engage
the
service of Party B_____________________________ as ________________.
The two Parties, in a spirit of friendly cooperation, agree to sign
this contract and pledge to fulfil conscientiously all the obligations
stipulated in it.
II. The period of service will be from the ____________ day of

III. The duties of Party B (see attached pages)
IV. Party B's monthly salary will be ¥_______ yuan RMB,_____%
of which can be converted into foreign currency monthly .
V. Party A's Obligations
1. Party A shall introduce to Party B the laws, decrees and relevant
regulations enacted by the Chinese government, the Party A's work
system and regulations concerning administration of foreign experts
.
2. Party A shall conduct direction, supervision and evaluation
of Party B's work.
3. Party A shall provide Party B necessary working and living
conditions.
4. Party A shall provide co-workers.
5. Party A shall pay Party B `s salary regularly by the month.
VI. Party B's Obligations
1. Party B shall observe the laws, decrees and relevant regulations
enacted by the
Chinese government and shall not interfere in China's internal
affairs.
2. Party B shall observe Party A's work system and regulations
concerning
administration of foreign experts and shall accept Party A's consent,
Party B shall not render service elsewhere or hold concurrently
any post unrelated to the work agreed on with Party A.
3. Party B shall complete the tasks agreed on on schedule and
guarantee the
quality of work.
4. Party B shall respect China's religious policy, and shall not
conduct religious
activities incompatible with the status of an expert.
5. Party B shall respect the Chinese people's moral standard and
customs.
VII. Revision, Cancellation and Termination of the Contract
1. Both parties should abide by the contract and should refrain
from revising ,
canceling, or terminating the contract without mutual consent.
2. The contract can be revised, canceled, or terminated with mutual
consent.
Before both parties have reached an agreement, the contract should
be strictly observed.
3. Party A has the right to cancel the contract with a written
notice to Party B
under the following conditions:
(1) Party B does not fulfil the contract or does not fulfil the
contract obligations according to the terms stipulated, and has
failed to amend after Party A has pointed it out.
(2) According to the doctor's diagnosis, Party B cannot resume
normal work after
a continued 30 day sick leave.
4. Party B has the right to cancel the contract with a written
notice to Party A
under the following conditions:
(1) Party A has not provided Party B with necessary working and
living
conditions as stipulated in the contract.
(2) Party A has not paid Party B as scheduled.
VIII. Breach Penalty
When either of the two parties fails to fulfil the contract or
fails to fulfil the
contract obligations according to the terms stipulated, that is
, breaks the contract , it must pay a breach penalty of US$ 500
to 2,000 (or the equivalent in RMB) .
If Party B asks to cancel the contract due to events beyond control,
it should produce certifications by the department concerned,
obtain Party A's consent, and pay its own return expenses; if
Party B cancels the contract without valid reason, it should pay
its own return expenses and pay a breach penalty to Party A.
If Party A asks to cancel the contract due to events beyond control,
with the consent of Party B, it should pay Party B's return expenses;
if Party A cancels the contract without valid reason, it should
pay Party B's return expenses and pay a breach penalty to Party
B.
IX. The appendix of this contract is an inseparable part of
the Contract and has equal effect.
X. This contract takes effect on the date signed by both parties
and will automatically expire when the contract ends. If either
of the two parties asks for a new contract, it should forward
its request to another party 90 days prior to the expiration of
the contract with mutual consent.
Party B shall bear all expenses incurred when staying on after
the contract expires.
XI. Arbitration
The two parties shall consult with each other and mediate any
disputes which may arise about the contract. If all attempts fail,
the two parties can appeal to the organization of arbitration
for foreign experts affairs in the State Bureau of Foreign Experts
and ask for a final arbitration.

APPENDIX
|
Ⅰ. The duties of Party B

according to Part A's requirements
II. Treatment given to Party B.

Party A shall bear Party B's travelling expense in China when Party
B comes for employment and leaves after he fulfill the contract.
2. Party B is entitled to the summer and winter vacations and one
day holiday for Christmas, in addition to the legal holidays in
China.
3. Party A shall provide Party B with free housing (with furniture,
bedding , cookers, a bath room, a kitchen, a TV set, a refrigerator,
a washer, a telephone, and facilities for heating and air-conditioning).
Part B shall pay for the gas necessary for his/her daily life in
accordance with related institute rules and pay for telephone fees
(calls and line-renting fee).
4. Medical care shall be subsidized in accordance with China's medical
system,
except for expenses incurred in registration, doctor's home visits,
fitting false teeth, cleaning teeth, undergoing cosmetic surgery,
buying spectacles, boarding in hospital and non-medical tonics.
III. This appendix is an inseparable part of the contract and
has equal effect.
